Exclusive Interview With Brand: Thamon

What if your accessories could be as sustainable as they are stylish? Ben, the founder of Thamon, is redefining fashion with cruelty-free, eco-conscious creations made from real leaves. Designed with purpose and crafted with care, Thamon stands for more than just great design—it’s a movement toward a better, greener future.

Let’s discover the values behind the brand, the challenges faced along the way, and the inspiring mission to change the fashion industry for the better.

SECTION 1: ABOUT YOU

1. Would you share a bit about yourself and where you’re from?

I’m Ben, the founder of Thamon, originally based in the UK but now rooted in Thailand, where our products are thoughtfully crafted. My journey has been shaped by a love for nature, design, and innovation, as well as a deep belief in sharing and giving back.

At Thamon, we prioritize ethical practices and vegan materials, ensuring that every piece we create aligns with our commitment to sustainability, compassion, and respect for the environment and communities.

2. How did all it start?

It all began with a simple idea—how can we transform nature’s beauty into something functional and timeless? While traveling in Thailand, I discovered a unique technique to work with real leaves and vegan materials. This sparked the vision for Thamon, a brand that would combine eco-conscious practices with modern design.

During my master’s degree, I shared this idea with my university advisor, who encouraged me to take the concept further. What started as a passion project soon evolved into a business, blending innovation, sustainability, and craftsmanship to create something truly special.

3. Was it always the intention to become a sustainable and ethical designer?

Initially, it wasn’t a direct goal. However, as I worked on this project, I became increasingly aware of the environmental impacts of fashion, its cruelty toward animals, and unethical practices toward workers. This awareness led me to explore the concept of sustainability more deeply, which completely transformed my perspective and way of life.

Understanding the importance of cruelty-free practices and ethical production made sustainability the heart of the brand. It felt natural to align our practices with values that respect the planet and the people involved in the process.

4. What was it that first raised your awareness of the issue of fast fashion?

The sheer volume of waste produced by fast fashion was what first caught my attention. I realized how much clothing was being discarded after only a few uses, contributing to pollution and depleting resources. This, combined with the realization of how these practices affect workers and the environment, pushed me to seek more sustainable and ethical solutions.

SECTION 2: ABOUT YOUR BRAND

1. Could you tell us more about your label?

Thamon is a sustainable accessories brand that transforms real leaves into handbags, wallets, and journals. Our process is entirely cruelty-free, combining innovative techniques with respect for the environment, animals, and the people behind the craftsmanship. Each piece is a celebration of nature—designed to be unique, and durable.

We don’t mass-produce; instead, we focus on creating small batches through ethical processes that support fair working conditions and preserve traditional artisanal skills. At Thamon, every product tells a story of sustainability, creativity, and care.

2. What is the ethos when you design? What defines your style?

Our ethos is rooted in respect—for nature, for artisans, and for the people who use our products. Every design starts with a focus on sustainability, functionality, and timeless aesthetics.

Our style is where nature meets sophistication. Defined by natural textures and sleek, minimalist design, each piece reflects the natural beauty of real leaves while embracing elegance and versatility. Thamon’s creations exude a sense of timeless class, understated confidence, and smart functionality, perfect for individuals who value refined, sustainable fashion.

3. What have been some of the biggest challenges for you on this journey?

Balancing sustainability with scalability has been a challenge. Another hurdle has been educating consumers about the value of ethical practices in fashion and overcoming misconceptions about the durability of natural materials.

4. What do you want to achieve personally with your brand?

I hope to inspire a shift in consumer habits toward mindful consumption. Personally, I want Thamon to be a platform that empowers local artisans, preserves traditional crafts, and contributes positively to the environment.

SECTION 3: YOUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE

1. How would you explain the importance of brands like yours making steps to become more ethical and sustainable to someone who isn’t well-versed in what that means?

I’d emphasize that sustainability is about creating a positive impact on both the environment and communities. It’s not just about avoiding harm but actively contributing to a better future by reducing waste, supporting fair labor practices, and promoting long-lasting products.

2. For the consumers, what are the easiest ways that we can all be more sustainable in our approach to fashion?

Start by choosing quality over quantity, supporting brands with transparent and ethical practices, and caring for your items to extend their lifespan. Small changes like reusing, repairing, and donating can make a significant difference.

3. In your own eyes, how has becoming a sustainable designer changed your life?

It has deepened my connection to the natural world and given me a sense of purpose. Seeing our products bring joy to customers while staying true to our values is incredibly fulfilling.

4. People say that sustainable fashion is too expensive or too difficult to do. How do you usually respond to that?

I acknowledge that sustainable fashion can seem costly, but it’s an investment in quality, durability, and ethics. I encourage people to think about the true cost of fast fashion on the planet and workers. By choosing fewer but better-made items, sustainability becomes more accessible over time.
